Spring DPC (Diocesan Pastoral Council) Gathering will take place from at 9:15 am to 3:30 pm.
New location this year: Plaza 88 Event Center Inc. (the former downtown Co-op Store) at 888 Central Avenue, Prince Albert, Sk.
Topic : “Building the Church of Mercy”
This popular presentation by Dr. Matt Holbach presents Pope Francis’ vision of a more merciful church in terms of key actions and attitudes associated with mercy. Being merciful is about learning how to accompany people. Being a church of mercy is as much about deepening our own relationship with God who is Mercy itself, as it is about being icons of God’s mercy for others.
Speaker: Dr. Matt Halbach
Matt is the Director of the St. Joseph Educational Center in Des Moines, Iowa. He completed his Ph. D. in Religious Education and Catechetics at The Catholic University of America in Washington, D.C. He also has a M.A. in Theology from Franciscan University and a B.A. in Economics from the University of Iowa. He is currently working on a book entitled “Becoming the Parish of Mercy” to be released this summer of 2016 by Twenty-Third Publications. This book will be a great resource for parishes, helping them to understand Francis’ vision of a more merciful church, and how the actions and attitudes of a merciful church can be applied to various facets of parish life. The reflection questions at the end of every chapter make it a useful tool for small group discussion.
