Young adults bring clean drinking water to Tanzania, Africa

On June 30, eight young adults and two parents from the Diocese of Prince Albert left Canada for a six week mission to bring clean drinking water to a community in need by building a windmill powered well through the Missionaries of the Precious Blood (CPPS) in Tanzania, Africa.

Fr. Paul-Emile Côté passes away

PRINCE ALBERT - On May 12, 2014, Fr. Paul-Emil Côté peacefully passed away at the age of 101 at the infirmary of the Sisters of Presentation of Mary.  Fr. Côté was grateful to the Sisters for giving him loving care and the spiritual occasion of having daily mass and communion.

In the eulogy, close friend, Don Rak recalled experiences over a twenty year period with Fr. Côté at Hilltop Apartments and described him  as a very committed priest who had a witty spirit.

Fr. Côté was known for his humility, simplicity and generosity.  Every Advent for some 40 years, he created a nativity scene for Christmas, never two the same.  It was his gift to God and to his parishioners.  Rak said, “He needed time, solitude and silence to create a unique scene each Christmas.”

At the funeral mass, Chancellor, Fr. Greg Elder, related how he had gone to Despins Residence in St. Boniface, MB to prepare Fr. Côté to return to the Diocese of Prince Albert.  When he arrived in St. Louis, Fr. Greg asked him, “Where is your new clothes that we bought for you?”  The reply was simple, “I gave them to the poor.” …
