On Sunday, March 17, 2013, Sacred Heart Cathedral in Prince Albert held two annual protocol training sessions, one for new volunteers and one for those previously involved with high risk ministry for children, youth or vulnerable adults.
Eleven new and five experienced volunteers attended the day. The two-hour Protocol Orientation session new volunteers began at 2:00 p.m., while the one-hour protocol refresher started at 3:00 p.m. The sessions concluded with a wine and cheese St. Patrick’s Day social where participants discussed problems, questions and concerns about the protocol. A pot of “gold” was placed at the end of each table to help celebrate the day.
Evaluations according to those attending felt the major components of the course are comprehension of the Protocol and locating support when needed although some found the information to be overwhelming. Most felt the workshop provided valuable information for all volunteers.
For those who are required to attend a Responsible Ministry Session, DVD’s are available through the Pastoral Centre for both the one and two hour training.
