At the time of announcement, a letter was sent to all priests, administrators and parishes to explain and share the wonderful news that this program would begin, available for download below.
As announced in September 2012, a program for the Permanent Diaconate has been established in our diocese. Several people have applied to be admitted to a process of discernment which began January 25, 2013. They and their wives will be attending once a month sessions through the month of June, 2013.
Please remember them in your prayers during this time that as the wise men were led to the Christ Child by means of a star, so these aspirants and their wives will be led by the Holy Spirit in discerning their vocation. They are:
- Gregory Bobbitt and Linda Rudachyk, St. Odilon, Rosthern
- Michael and Mary Hardwicke, St. Eugene, Nipawin
- Paul and Nicole Joy, St. Joseph, Prince Albert
- Daniel and Janice Lamoureux, Notre Dame, North Battleford
- Brian McLane, St. Eugene, Nipawin
- Lynn and Aileen Ryan, St. Agatha, Shellbrook
A Prayer for Those in Discerning a Vocation to the Diaconate
O God, you have taught us to pray for more labourers in your harvest-field. We ask you to make those you have called ready to hear and act upon your invitation to diaconal ministry. Make them at all times sensitive to your guidance, willing to learn and eager to obey. We ask this in the name of him who came not to be ministered to but minister, Jesus Christ your Son our Lord. Amen.
A Prayer for Vocations to Ordained Ministry and the Religious Life
Father, you call each one of us by name and ask us to follow you. Bless your church by raising up dedicated and generous leaders from our
families and friends who will serve your people as Sisters, Priests, Brothers, Deacons, and Lay Ministers. Inspire us as we grow to know you, and open our hearts to hear your call. We ask this in Jesus’ name. Amen.
